Cavalier Tattoo the creative vision of Rachel Cavalier and Mattaeus Ball.
Located in the heart of Hemel Hempstead’s historic Old Town, our studio offers a warm, inclusive, and inspiring environment for anyone seeking high-quality custom tattoos.
Our mission is simple: to provide a comfortable, accessible studio where multiple tattoo styles come together under one roof. Whether you’re looking for fine-line, traditional, realism, or bespoke custom work, we’re here to bring your ideas to life. The studio is fully wheelchair accessible, ensuring everyone feels welcome.
Walk-ins are welcome for general enquiries. For tattoo concepts, please book a consultation so we can discuss your vision in detail.
Though Cavalier Tattoo is new, our team is highly experienced. Co-owner Rachel Cavalier brings over 16 years of industry expertise, and we are currently looking for established artists to join our growing family.

Louis Francis a.k.a Heresy Tattooer
He’s a bit of an all-rounder who specialised in Traditional and Neo-traditional tattooing. He loves a walk in, making your idea into a permanent skin sticker. Whether it’s a fineline flower or a bright and bold eagle ripping the eyes off a cybernetic wizard he’s down to tattoo you.

RJ
Fine line and script Artist
RJ covers all the small and delicate pieces that come into the studio. As well as working with your designs, RJ creates custom pieces, collaborating with you to bring your vision to life. In addition to the traditional fine line aesthetic, RJ also loves script, biblical and Chicano tattoos.

Jodie
Apprentice
Jodie is one of our apprentice artists at The Cavalier Tattoo, with a passion for turning beautiful artwork into tattoos you'll wear for life. She puts heart and soul into every piece she creates and takes pride in continually developing her craft.
Although she enjoys working in a variety of styles, Jodie is especially drawn to what she calls a "dark but pretty"aesthetic—a blend of dark art, dark realism, and black & grey tattooing with a moody yet elegant feel. She also loves creating pin-up girls and detailed female portraits.

Charlie
Apprentice
Charlie is the second of our exceptionally talented apprentices, and her work truly speaks for itself. She currently has availability for apprentice tattoos, making this the perfect chance to book a quality tattoo at apprentice rates.

Wheel Chair Accessible
We are proud to say that we are wheelchair- and disability-friendly.
Old Town has plenty of disabled parking, and our shop front is wheelchair-accessible with a little assistance. If you can let us know in advance that you’ll be visiting in a wheelchair, we will do our utmost to make your experience as smooth and comfortable as possible.
Please note that, unfortunately, we are unable to provide a disabled toilet. However, Old Town has accessible public toilets located in the square, right next to our shop.
Our aim is to make your visit as easy and enjoyable as possible.
How to find us
You can find us at 50 High Street, Old Town Hemel Hempstead, opposite Yalla Yalla.
Please do not park on the High Street unless you have a disability badge, as parking is limited to 30 minutes.
A pay-and-display car park is located behind the shop, just off the High Street on the left, just before the mini roundabout.
